I think D Way has good intentions for Deadpool, it seems like he knows what he wants to do. I just don't think he has the means to do what the fans want. That ultimately will be his undoing in the Deadpool series.

His tweaks to the character were unnecessary. DP may be viewed as "Insane" or "Crazy" but i think DWay has made him To insane. if that makes sense.

It does make sense. I think some of the mystique behind Deadpool was we didn't know exactly how insane he was. But with D Way visually showing us he sees in cartoons, makes it a little stupid. Don't get me wrong, its occasionally funny, but overall disappointing.

sooo...what i got from this...

--Way doesn't really care what he does with the characters, because he's more of a format/medium guy...
--in Deadpool's case, specifically, he doesn't really care what he does with him, because it's to be viewed through a prism of non-reality...

i dunno about anyone else, but, this irritates me almost as much as the Weapon XI stuff.

if you ask me, this book is Way's escape from the usual "format". he twisted (not tweaked) the character so much, just so he can write whatever the hell he wants. that's not so much storytelling as it is his own personal dump for random ideas that don't necessarily have to fit together. this presumed disinterest is extremely disingenuous.

i understand if a writer wants to stay emotionally detached from the characters they're writing, but one would think they would at least invest time and thought into the book, not just do anything and write it off because "he's insane" and there isn't "any sort of structure".

what a crock.

Yeah,just what bob said.

Now I have been seeing loads of deadpool fans that want Joe Kelly back at doing deadpool. After all he pretty much forged te character no?

Daniel way felt very blank vanilla there. Not excited nor nothing.
Bob takes the cake on this one.
I dont know about structure things but thats not excuse to make deadpool such a crack, even more than what he used to be.

He's got good intentions but I dont know...

Someone please start a petition for a new writer..
maybe we can flood Marvel with e-mails... something...

Way is totally ruining years of what Nicieza and Kelly had established

I agree with that co-writer/lawyer chick, Way just needs to let loose, specifically on Deadpool. I mean I remember reading a few times how Fabian would always push the limits with Nicole Boose. Way should do the same shit, just let go and make Deadpool his own. He's obviously got writing broken down to a science, now all he has to do is just let it rip like Marlon Brando just ate a platter of sushi with a mug of milk (fart joke). But seriously, make the character his. F*ck how everyone else would write for Deadpool, just grab the character and unleash. Fuck if anyone likes it or not. The general perception of Deadpool is that his book is action/comedy, but when a writer just takes over, he'll write issues like Deadpool and Death Annual 98, or Cable and Deadpool #35. Those books went against what a Deadpool book is generally perceived and gave depth and a eery sense of life to the character (which turned me from a Deadpool fan into a Deadpool fanatic). Just get lost in the character, if no one likes it, lol fuck it, they can go sit on a bowling pin'n spin.

wwt -- you're absolutely right in saying that writers need to make a character their own. but how hasn't Way done that already?? multiple personalities, Pool O'Vision...

Kelly and Nicieza (or any other writer, for that matter) didn't view DP as a schizophrenic. if you ask me, Way is already lost in the character. "letting loose" (even more than he already has) would have an adverse effect.

God help us if he attempts an origin story.

I was actually about to dive into the whole Pool O'Vision until I realized how much I had already typed lol

But yeah, the schizophrenia/pool o'vision is definitely Way's take on the character. Now I'm not a fan of Deadpool havin hallucinations out of no where, but if Way can explain why Deadpool is having these hallucinations down the line, I think it will help it work.

You could be right though, letting loose may not help at all, and he probably already has. And goin back to that interview it seemed that all the problems they addressed were with Wolverine, not Deadpool. I don't know though, It just feels like he needs to unleash on his Deadpool as well.

DeadPool needs to BREAK the FOURTH WALL and give Daniel Way a good, square kick in the NUTS alla ROCHAMBEAU to Captain America back in issue #25 of the original series. That should set dWay straight and improve his writing.
