Dark Reign is the branding that Marvel is adding to books that deal with the aftermath of Secret Invasion. So far, any book that is under Dark Reign only has the following information: "These solicits are classified until the release of Secret Invasion #8."
There hasn't been an news about the story after the upcoming two issue arc, Horror Bizness. This is the first that has been mentioned that the Deadpool series would be part of Dark Reign. Oh yippee. Another tie-in. 8|
Interesting.. Dp is getting lots of action... by the end of the year, he'll be asked to join the Avengers.. lol
And then the Avengers will crumble. Ha ha!
haha...anonymous #1 shares my feelings exactly...
completely agree with anonymous #1. As much as I love DP, what does it say that the start of his own book has to be carried by the storyline of Secret War.
He needs to do his own thing, and soon.
Next on the to-do list, a legit rival: spider-man has venom, wolverine has sabertooth, DP has T-ray? He's a joke...
Personally, I think it'd be funny if DP tried to join the Avengers. As long as he's funny, I don't care if he's doing his laundry.
@anonymous #4
Joe Kelly's T-Ray was not a joke. He was a Big Bad Mo-Fo and a great nemesis. Unfortunately later they completely destroyed the character. But I think that a good writer could make him great again.
Yeah, T-Ray was so bad that he made Deadpool look like a saint. In some ways, he was worse than Sabretooth and Venom could ever hope to be.
Deapool needs a good nemesis...T-Ray had a band aid on his nose. Give me a freakin break. As for the tie-ins, beggars can't be choosers. Deadpool has his own series that is so much better than I thought it would be, that makes all right in my world (which is very small). chimichanga chimichanga chimichanga.
i can see either side of this T-Ray debate...he may not be comparable to other more 'popular' villains or arch-nemeses (-nemesi??), but what makes him significant is the context in which he was introduced and the impact he's had on Deadpool's history.
DP doesn't need a "good" nemesis...T-Ray fills that bill just fine. for anyone who disagrees, we're open to hear suggestions.
santoro -- regarding crossovers, yeah, beggars can't be choosers. but Deadpool fans really just want a contained run with meaningful arcs. crossovers represent worthless interruption and serve mainly as a marketing ploy. if that's what Way needs to sell this book, perhaps Marvel should have chosen a writer with more confidence in his material.
i'm not ready to write Way off, but he hasn't proven anything yet.
Well, the next story isn't a crossover, and from what I've read it'll be far from meaningless.
I agree that Way isn't out of the wood's yet, but I also think that there's hope.
T-ray's story was done at the end of issue 33 by joe kelly, after all he was created by Joe kelly.
Deadpool needs someone new, badass and that kicks ass.
I would say Deathstroke but he is from dc :(
still a deadpool vs deathstroke special would be awesome!
with a poster etc..
The t-ray that appeared after joe kelly left was a doppleganger left by the original t-ray in order to keep an eye on wade and so he could keep him low and not gaining selfsteem etc..
that solution would work and it would clear t-ray's name.
srsly T-ray was a trully badass MOFO in joe kelly, he was really really bad.
pitalla -- have you seen Superman/Batman Annual??
http://tinyurl.com/6fnuul
that's about as close to a Deathstroke special as you'll find ... very entertaining from Joe and Ed =)
I don't think this will be that bad, all it means is that it somehow ties into the results of secret invasion, but considering it is a worldwide event it makes sense that most books would be effected somehow.
Way has said the events of the first arc will have an impact of the story of the book for a long time, and if that means Deadpool gets a bigger role in the marvel u then I'm fine with it.
i don't think anyone has a problem with DP having a bigger role in the MU, ben -- we all want success for this book, but it should stand on its own, not as a small tale of some greater story in the Marvel Universe. so the concern here, at least for me, is the deliberate thrusting of DP into the goings on of these big crossover events. the series starting off with a three-part tie-in, and then another tie-in by issue #6?!?!
that should raise some flags as to the preparedness of this series...i don't see any "big plans" for Deadpool in the future if he continues to remain nothing more than a supporting cast member to these gimmicks.
personally, i like when a book is contained. what i fear most with Way at the helm -- "Don't forget to check out __(insert Marvel title here)__ #__(insert issue number here)__ for the conclusion of this story!! Next month: Part One of our 6-part tie-in with blah blah blah... -- if i have to buy an issue of Wolverine or Weapon X or whatever, just to finish a regular Deadpool issue, i will not be pleased.
I completely agree with Bob. As much as I appreciate Deadpool's involvement in other books and story arcs, he needs to start re-developing his own story fast.
Starting the book with a tie-in seems like a bad omen, but with the next tie-in coming after just a 2-issue arc...makes me nervous.
There's so much to be explored, such as his team situation with Agency X and all of the glorious characters involved. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that Agent X gets a big part in this book, as I was a huge fan of the Agent X stint.
As for arch-enemies, I'd agree with anonymous #4 that T-Ray was a joke, but I would submit that AJAX was a great enemy. The fact that he was killed and has yet to return gives me hope that Deadpool can avoid the "resurrection curse" that the rest of the marvel U has. Who could be a good Arch-nemesis for DP then?
Bullseye?
Wow...that's the only guy that comes to mind.
Now let's not scare ourselves yet. I think we should wait for something bad to actually happen. And it's not garaunteed to be a tie-in. They're just saying that describing the book might give away something.
Chris -- AJAX was up there, for sure. Slayback is the only other villain who even came close to an arch-nemesis, and he too was short-lived. i can't really put Bullseye in that camp, since DP has worked with him before.
Deadpool has been slowly blurring the line between Hero and Antihero over the years...in that position, it's hard to really have a true nemesis in the process. i've enjoyed his inner-battles, when they were portrayed be a good writer, anyway.
(and i think Agency X needs it's own book...that would be a treat)
Bob - great point about the hero/anti-hero issue making it hard to have a true nemesis. Never thought of that before.
As for DPs inner battles, I have to admit that the early Typhoid Mary arc was what really got me hooked onto DP. But I think it got revisited too many times by lesser writers...
I'm ready for some fresh new team action, bring in Agency X!!
yo how about Hayden as an arch-nemesis...gives DPs inner-struggles some tangibility! Just throwing it out there
Deadpool has a lot of enemies. I think Nick Fury is Deadpool's enemy at the moment.
nick fury?
get outta here...
T-ray was not a joke! at least the one by joe kelly!
srsly that guy was evil and badass, and hes story had a conclusion already wich was the last issue od DP by Joe kelly.
Now the superman and batman annual was ok but it barely had any DP and DS in it, Ill say that they should make a real DP and DS special yeah!
Also deadpool needs a new villian.
